What is the SYMMETRYSM Study?
Melanoma is a form of skin cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, melanoma is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. Melanoma can become dangerous when it spreads, or metastasizes, to other parts of the body.
Although there are medications available for treating
late-stage melanoma, the options are limited. Currently,
there are only two chemotherapy drugs approved by
the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
for treating metastatic melanoma. Learn more>>

Local doctors are now recruiting patients with metastatic melanoma to participate in the SYMMETRYSM study. This medical research study is evaluating the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug for the treatment of metastatic melanoma.
The investigational drug is being tested in combination with the chemotherapy drug paclitaxel.
